#1 - Rise and Shine, Sunshine
We know, we know. Waking up extra early when you’re on vacay sounds like a chore, but trust us - it’s worth it. If you head out early in the morning to hit the main attraction, you can not only beat the heat, but you’ll be beating the crowd as well to get that perfect Instagram photo. Being able to catch the sunrise is just another perk! Once noon comes and the sun gets too unbearable, pull an ‘Edward Cullen’ and go find some refuge in a nice cool cafe or head back to your hotel to catch some winks.
Tip: While we were writing this, we were imagining huge complexes like Angkor Wat or Bagan Temples in our mind, but this works for cities and walking tours as well. Just be sure to check what time your destination opens. You don’t want to wake up at an ungodly hour for nothing!
#2 - Cluster your fluster away
Everyone suffers from FOMO (fear of missing out) and wants to visit every place of interest when they are in a exotic country. We’re not telling you not to do it, but pace yourself and plan your days by clustering activities according to location. After all, dragging yourself all over the place is brutal enough without the sun out to get you.
Tip: Plot out all the places you want to visit on Google Maps so you can have a clearer idea of what’s what. Saving destinations to custom lists is a great way to stay organized. You can even save maps for offline use! Just search for a destination on google maps when you have internet access, tap more, and select the download option!
#3 - Feeling like the Desert? Time for Desserts
Ice cream is fantastic no matter what situation you’re in. - especially in the summertime. Be it insta-worthy gelatos in Rome, healthy froyos in Hawaii, coconut ice cream in Thailand or even a good ol’ popsicle, they all do the job nicely by cooling you down (and satisfying your sweet tooth). But if you ask us, any reason to get ice cream is a good reason. ‘Nuf said.
Tip: Try ALLLL the local ice creams
#4 - If you can't beat them, Join em
You know how the saying goes. If you’re drowning in your own sweat, crank your music up loud to start an impromptu dance party and get EVERYONE ELSE sweating too. At least you won’t die alone...right? Also, just think about how badass is will be to tell people that you’ve successfully managed to pull off an impromptu party like this guy?
Tip: This would be epic if done in a hostel full of adventurous (read: crazy) people just like you! You’d need a portable speaker that is loud enough to pull this off like this bad boy
#5 - Surrender
Sometimes, it’s ok to raise a white flag. Just surrender gracefully and jump into the nearest pool and let the instant bliss envelop you. Hey, with the hottest hits blaring from your splashproof speaker and an ice cold beer in your hand, it won’t even feel like a surrender #win.
Tip: If your accommodation doesn't come with pool, keep a lookout for other hotels which do. Stride in like you belong (don’t tell people we told you this), or simply pay a small fee to enjoy their facilities!
